What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator, a restaurant, a market authority or a ticketing agent. We do not run any of these walks, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with Mercato Testaccio, Roma Capitale, the Sovrintendenza Capitolina, the Ministero della Cultura, the Non-Catholic Cemetery or any of the businesses these walks stop at.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. The badges are arithmetic: the best seller is the one with the most reviews, the best value is the lowest per-person fare shown, and the top-rated one carries the highest published score. Where one operator sells a similar walk as more than one listing, both appear, because both are separately bookable.

The featured walks at the top of the homepage are three different kinds of day — a guided market morning, a hands-on cooking class and a private cart — and all three are in Testaccio itself, which is what this site is named after.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were read from their own listings on 13 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Where a listing was on a temporary promotion that day, the regular price is shown. Everything is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing here is converted at an exchange rate. Every fare on this site is per person.

Where we state a fact about the quarter, it comes from the body that sets it: the market's own site for its address and hours, the Sovrintendenza Capitolina for Monte Testaccio's access and fee, the Ministero della Cultura for the Pyramid of Cestius, the Non-Catholic Cemetery for its own hours and donation, and Roma Capitale's tourism office for the Emporium and the Mattatoio.

What we deliberately do not publish

An admission price for Mercato Testaccio, in either direction. The market publishes opening hours and no price, and no source we could cite states that entry is free, so this site states neither.
A number of amphorae in Monte dei Cocci. The figure repeated across the web has no official source; Roma Capitale says only "millions of fragments".
A single height for Monte Testaccio. Two official bodies publish two figures, 54 metres and about 35 metres, and the history page prints both rather than choosing.
A ticket price for the Mattatoio. A combined figure circulates on aggregator sites and is not on the venue's own pages.
Bus route numbers for Testaccio. The transport authority's own planner could not be queried, and every number found came from third parties, so this site names the metro line and the trams only.
A month-by-month climate table for Rome. No official meteorological source we could cite publishes one, so the seasons are described by what is on the stalls and what closes, not by a temperature.
